Japanese catering giant Saizeriya commissioned this building to house its food processing operations where food is prepared in Australia then shipped to Japan as pre-packaged restaurant meals.
The facility consists of processing and storage, a massive freezer and an innovative waste treatment plant. Clear span areas of 27.5 metres were achieve with steel roof trusses and the suspended walkways and bridge systems carry the piping and refrigeration.
The massive super-structure was designed with a “sway” which was gradually taken up as the building of the weighty structure advanced.
